E Workshop- “Medicine Striving For Humanity” – Sept’ 2019

On 16th September 2019 Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) organized a live e- workshop “Medicine Striving for Humanity “for making awareness about the humanitarian approach needed in medical practice. A doctor if having a humanitarian approach can not only work on the disease process but can cure the disease from its root cause. According to Vedas the disease first appears in mind and then it affects the body. A patient is coming with pain, anxiety, lack of understanding, knowledge, fatigue, weakness.  A single calm and sympathetic approach of a doctor can give the confidence to the patient. Medicine will cure the only the disease process but not going to cure it at the root level.

In the seminar major focus was thrown on the doctor – patient relationship, a discussion was done on tone, body language of the doctor how these both will have effect on the patient. Communication skills of the doctor are playing major role in building a good rapport with the patient, a patient will be more opened and feel connected with the doctor. The speakers explained “5 S” i.e the bench mark for the treatment 1] sort 2] set on order 3] shine 4] stand right 5] self-discipline.

Total 80 students of second and third years of Physiotherapy have participated in the seminar. Seminar was conducted from 9 am till 5 pm. Students asked the difficulties regarding the approach of the doctor, communication skills, doctor – patient relationship. All their questions were answered and students got new concept of gentle, sympathetic, humanitarian approach for treating the patient.
