INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION - June 2024

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY is celebrated worldwide on 21st June every year. The purpose of celebrating this day to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and promote a healthier lifestyle. St. Andrews College of Physiotherapy celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2024 in Yoga lab of SACOP. The celebration of international yoga day started with a yoga session at 9.00 AM, conducted by Dr. Vijaya Bagade. The session included various Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing exercises). Students and faculty actively participated, experiencing the rejuvenating effects of yoga. The session highlighted the benefits of yoga in enhancing physical well-being, promoting physical as well as mental health. In the afternoon, Poster competition was arranged where students of each academic year participated actively. Informative posters of various yoga principles, asana and their health benefits were illustrated by the students. Dr. Venkatesan R. and Dr. Kirti Thodge were the judges for the poster competition. Following the poster competition, yoga demonstration competition was organized where students actively participated for demonstration of yoga poses. Dr. Avani Thar hosted the demonstration session. The judges for yoga demonstration competition were Dr. Amruta Khilwani and Dr. Poonam Navbade. At the end of the event, winners of poster competition and yoga demonstration were announced and the event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Avani Thar at 4.00 PM.
